The Hobbywing XRotor X8 G2 is an integrated propulsion unit for mid-size multicopters on 12 to 14S: an 8120 motor with 100 KV, an ESC and a 30-inch folding propeller are supplied by the Chinese manufacturer as one unit. By the usual designation the stator is 81 mm in diameter and 20 mm high.
The folding propeller MFP 30x11S measures 30 inches, about 76 cm. KV 100 stands for 100 revolutions per volt, suited to large propellers and good efficiency. Maximum thrust is 17,500 g; for sustained operation the manufacturer recommends 5 to 7.5 kg per axis, and the upper limit of 7,500 g is the figure entered. The ESC delivers 20 A continuous and 80 A peak for 3 s, controlled by PWM and CAN (Cyphal/UAVCAN, DroneCAN, HWCAN). The weight of 1,095 g includes leads and propeller.
Frame and law: with four axes and 5 to 7.5 kg per axis the take-off weight is 20 to 30 kg, so the set-up lies on both sides of the 25 kg limit of the open category. On 12S each ampere-hour of battery is worth 44.4 Wh, on 14S 51.8 Wh; the IATA threshold of 160 Wh lies at about 3.6 Ah (12S) or 3.1 Ah (14S).
Selection and wear: a propeller other than the recommended one changes thrust, current and temperature of the whole unit. Inspection points are the bearings of the motor bell, the winding after heat, the fold hinge and the connectors. On 12 to 14S, spark protection when connecting belongs to the routine.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
