The Hobbywing XRotor Pro H130A 14S FOC is a single-motor ESC from the Chinese manufacturer for heavy multicopters. It uses field-oriented control (FOC), drives one motor and weighs 148 g without leads.
The 130 in the name matches neither of the current ratings: the continuous current is 60 A, the peak current 150 A for 3 s. The voltage window runs from 6S to 14S, i.e. up to 58.8 V fully charged. Control is by PWM, CAN or RS485; the addition Dual Throttle stands for two throttle inputs. The throttle and communication signals are galvanically isolated, so disturbances and voltage faults on the power side do not reach the flight controller over the signal line. Telemetry and a black-box recorder are built in. Protection rating IP55 means protection against dust and water jets. FOC regulates sinusoidally, more quietly and more efficiently than block commutation, but responds more slowly, which hardly matters with large propellers.
Frame and law: heavy multicopters are often at or above 25 kg take-off mass; above that the specific category with an operational authorisation applies. A 14S pack passes the IATA limit of 160 Wh from about 3.1 Ah and then travels only as dangerous goods. CAN connection pays off when speed, current and temperature are to be monitored.
Selection and wear: after an incident the black box shows whether an overload or undervoltage occurred. At 60 A continuous and 148 g, heat removal remains the critical point; dust and moisture attack the seals, and capacitors and solder joints age with heat and vibration.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
