The DRS-M300/M350 from Drone Rescue Systems (Austria) is a flight-ready, reusable parachute kit for the DJI Matrice 300 RTK and the Matrice 350 RTK, multicopters of the medium class. It is integrated through the DJI O-SDK and P-SDK. An electrically triggered catapult throws out the canopy, with no pyrotechnics and no CO2.

The manufacturer gives a sink rate of 3.3 m/s at 6.5 kg and 3.6 m/s at 9.7 kg, corresponding to 35 and 65 J of impact energy; the rated value of 3.6 m/s applies to the heavier mass. The opening takes place within 25 m, a distance and not a guaranteed minimum deployment altitude. The system weighs about 460 g and measures 165 x 100 mm.

As evidence the manufacturer lists ASTM F3322-22 and EASA MoC Light-UAS.2512. For MoC 2511 the system is described as eligible for testing, which is not an issued evidence of compliance. For flights over people or in certain scenarios of the Specific category, the evidence should exist for exactly this combination of aircraft; a ready-made kit is easier to substantiate than a self-made adaptation. The 460 g count towards take-off weight.

Because the catapult is electric, the kit can be used again after a deployment. Then canopy and lines are checked for tears, chafing and moisture and repacked as specified. The integration through the DJI SDK interfaces belongs in the function check before use, and again after firmware updates of the aircraft.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
