The SafeAir Mavic 3 from ParaZero (Israel) is a clip-on ballistic parachute with mechanical flight termination for the DJI Mavic 3 family (Classic, Cine, Pro and Enterprise, each without the RTK attachment), that is, for compact multicopters. Independent sensors trigger it on free fall or on excessive roll or pitch; the release is autonomous.
The minimum deployment altitude is 40.96 m, the sink rate 4.11 m/s and the mean impact energy 8.2 J. Because the aircraft is light, the energy stays low, but the good 41 m leave flights below it outside the protection: take-off, landing and low passes lie outside. The system weighs 185 g, a large share of take-off weight on so light an aircraft. Motor cut-off on deployment protects the canopy from spinning propellers.
For flights over people or in certain scenarios of the Specific category, an expressly named evidence to ASTM F3322 or EASA MoC Light-UAS.2511 and 2512 is what counts; the general phrase “ASTM-compliant documentation” does not replace it. The Mavic 3 models lie close to the 900 g weight limit of EU class C1, and the added 185 g can change the classification. The compatibility entry applies to aircraft without the RTK attachment.
After a deployment the release unit is replaced or serviced, and canopy and lines are checked for tears, chafing and moisture. The independent sensors that detect free fall and tilt belong in the function check before use. Ballistic releases can fall under their own transport and storage rules; the manufacturer's instructions govern shipping and storage.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
