The KDE Direct KDE2814XF-515 is a compact UAS motor (12N14P) for small multicopters on 4S to 6S with propellers from 12.5 to 15.5 inches. KDE Direct is a US manufacturer of drone drives. The stator class 2814 stands for 28 mm diameter and 14 mm height; the motor weighs 95 g (125 g with cables) and measures 35.5 x 31.7 mm.
At 515 KV the motor turns roughly 11,400 rpm unloaded on 6S (22.2 V nominal). For 180 s KDE quotes 535 W at 24 A, which corresponds to about 22 V and so to 6S; this holds only with at least 5 mph (about 8 km/h) of airflow over the winding. The recommended propeller is the KDE 12.5x4.3 three-blade; on 6S, propellers up to 15.5 inches with two blades or 12.5 inches with three blades are permitted.
The maximum thrust of 2,490 g comes from a KDE test-stand measurement at 3,500 ft altitude (about 1,070 m) at 20 °C, with the KDE-UAS125UVC controller at 100 % throttle on 6S, 25.1 A and 632 W. That measuring point lies above the 180 s limits of 24 A and 535 W: the thrust figure is a short-term maximum, not an operating point. It works out at 3.94 g of thrust per watt; in a hover at part load the figure is usually much higher. KDE extrapolates 2,731 g to sea level, which is the maker's estimate. Because of the test-stand altitude, KDE thrust figures are not directly comparable with values from other makers.
In a motor that is repeatedly run at the upper edge of the 180 s values, the winding insulation ages first. The checks are the airflow at the motor (a motor enclosed in the frame cools worse), the bearings for roughness and the shaft for wobble. Three blades load the motor harder than two at the same diameter; that is why KDE allows only 12.5 inches with three blades on 6S but 15.5 inches with two.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
