Fendt Farmer 300 – the Marktoberdorf mid-range 1980–1999: 305 to 312, LS and LSA, Turbomatik, 46 to 92 kW

For two decades the Farmer 300 was Fendt's mid-range and the tractor on which many family farms in southern Germany and Austria grew. The range appeared in 1980 as successor to the Farmer 200 and 100 types, gained the 305 to 312 models in a new cab in 1984, was revised in 1987 to the loader-friendly LSA generation and in 1993 to the Ci generation with a new bonnet and Turbomatik converter clutch, before the Farmer 400 Vario and later the 300 Vario followed in 1999. The engines – three-, four- and six-cylinder – were built by MWM, from the late 1980s at the Mannheim plant, which then belonged to Fendt's parent company Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz.

The type number gives the power step, the letters the equipment: LS stands for the powershift version with Turbomatik starting clutch, LSA for the same with four-wheel drive, C and CA for the simpler version without powershift, Compact for the lower overall height, Ci for the models from 1993. In the register the models run from 46 to 92 kW (62 to 125 hp) with 3,117 to 6,234 cm³ and three to six cylinders, 238 to 459 Nm of torque, unladen weights from 3,255 to 5,350 kg, lengths from 3,780 to 4,480 mm and heights from 2,597 to 2,820 mm.

The Turbomatik – a hydraulic converter clutch that takes up drive smoothly when starting and shifting – was Fendt's unique feature in this class and a reason for the Farmer 300's reputation as a clutch-sparing loader tractor.

Used Farmer 300s are sought-after tractors with stable prices. When buying, the condition of the MWM engine (cooling system, cylinder head on the six-cylinders), the Turbomatik and powershift transmission, the loader mounting and the front axle on four-wheel-drive models are what count.
