The Manitou MI 70 G US is the gas-powered US version of the largest truck in the MI series. G stands for gas, US for the North American market, and the figure 70 marks the highest load-capacity class of the series. The engine runs on liquid gas, so unlike diesel no particulate filter is needed and the exhaust is cleaner.
Heavy-duty gas trucks are used where large loads are moved alternately in ventilated halls and outdoors: in steel merchants, precast-concrete yards, paper mills and container terminals. The gas drive allows work in plant halls where diesel exhaust would be a nuisance and removes the charging time of an electric drive.
The vehicle is a front-mounted truck with a mast and dual tires on the front axle so that the high weight is spread. Used buyers should have the gas system, mast, forks and brakes checked closely and ask for the documentation of the load test, since at this class stability is relevant to safety.
Manitou MI – industrial forklifts with diesel and gas power
The MI range is Manitou's line of industrial counterbalance forklifts. The maker from Ancenis, France is best known for rough-terrain forklifts and telehandlers; the MI series addresses the conventional forklift market. According to trade press, the range includes diesel and LPG models with capacities from 1,500 to 3,500 kg, with higher-capacity units reaching 6,000 and 7,000 kg. They use Powershuttle transmissions, hydrostatic steering and masts similar to those on Manitou's rough-terrain forklifts.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
