The Manitou MI 25 G US is the gas-powered version of the MI forklift series. The G in the name stands for gas, in practice usually liquid petroleum gas, and US marks the variant for the North American market. The 25 names the load-capacity class. Unlike the diesel variant this truck needs no particulate filter, and exhaust output is lower, which makes it interesting for mixed indoor and outdoor use.

Gas trucks are often used in warehouses with open doors, in production plants and in retail, where a diesel engine would cause smell and soot nuisance but an electric truck would lack range outdoors. Swapping the gas cylinder takes minutes and needs no charging break.

The mast technology matches the diesel sibling of the series, since the two differ mainly in drive. Buyers of used gas trucks check the gas system, spark plugs and the tightness of the lines, and make sure the inspection mark for the gas system is current.

Manitou MI – industrial forklifts with diesel and gas power

The MI range is Manitou's line of industrial counterbalance forklifts. The maker from Ancenis, France is best known for rough-terrain forklifts and telehandlers; the MI series addresses the conventional forklift market. According to trade press, the range includes diesel and LPG models with capacities from 1,500 to 3,500 kg, with higher-capacity units reaching 6,000 and 7,000 kg. They use Powershuttle transmissions, hydrostatic steering and masts similar to those on Manitou's rough-terrain forklifts.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
