The Manitou MI 25 D ST5 US is a forklift of the MI series, which Manitou offers for industrial use. The D in the name stands for diesel drive, ST5 for emission stage V under European rules, and US marks the version laid out for the North American market. The figure 25 describes the load-capacity class of this model within the series.
Forklifts of the MI series are classic front-mounted trucks with a mast, loading and unloading pallets, serving warehouses and moving goods in the yard. With a diesel engine and pneumatic or super-elastic tires they suit outdoor work on uneven ground, for instance in builders' yards and timber stores, where electric trucks reach their limits.
The US version differs from the European one by adaptations to North American rules, for example in lighting and safety accessories. For buyers of used trucks, operating hours, the condition of mast and forks and the working of the hydraulics are the main checkpoints.
Manitou MI – industrial forklifts with diesel and gas power
The MI range is Manitou's line of industrial counterbalance forklifts. The maker from Ancenis, France is best known for rough-terrain forklifts and telehandlers; the MI series addresses the conventional forklift market. According to trade press, the range includes diesel and LPG models with capacities from 1,500 to 3,500 kg, with higher-capacity units reaching 6,000 and 7,000 kg. They use Powershuttle transmissions, hydrostatic steering and masts similar to those on Manitou's rough-terrain forklifts.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
