The Workswell WIRIS Pro is a radiometric thermal camera from the Czech Republic with an EU-made core, meant for mid-sized multicopters. It joins the thermal image with a Full HD daylight camera and is used for inspection and measurement.
The detector is an uncooled LWIR microbolometer with 640 × 480 pixels and a spectral range of 8 to 14 µm. The thermal sensitivity is below 30 or below 50 mK depending on the variant; the 30 mK value applies to the best variant. The camera exists in a radiometric version, which stores temperature values per pixel, and in a non-radiometric one. The frame rate is 30 Hz or below 9 Hz. The daylight camera has Full HD at 1/3 inch and a 10x optical zoom; the thermal image has only a digital zoom of 1x to 12x, which merely enlarges. The unit weighs less than 465 g and has an IP40 rating.
The frame rate determines export control: thermal modules above 9 Hz fall under the EU Dual-Use Regulation (2021/821), while the variant below 9 Hz stays under it. The manufacturer lists the device with its EU core as "non-ITAR", that is, free of the US ITAR export restrictions. Images of people and property fall under data-protection law, and the operator must be registered.
The variant is fixed at purchase: radiometric or not, 30 Hz or below 9 Hz, 30 or 50 mK. Measurement reports need the radiometric version; for pure observation the simpler one suffices. IP40 gives no protection against water, rain is off limits. Wear points are the zoom mechanics of the daylight camera and the connectors; front windows are cleaned only with suitable agents, and the calibration is checked regularly.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
