The GT series (Geräteträger, or implement carrier) complemented Fendt's conventional field tractors with vehicles offering a central mounting point for implements between the axles. The first model, the F 12 GT, appeared in 1957, and the last recorded model, the F 390 GT, was built until 1995. According to the register, engine output ranges from 8.8 to 74 kW, with models rated in horsepower from 12 to 100 hp, using one- to six-cylinder engines with displacement from 905 to 6,128 cm³.

Recorded operating weight runs from 1,200 to 4,900 kg, wheelbase from 1,990 to 3,020 mm, and top speed of the listed models spans 19.7 to 40 km/h. The central implement position gave a clear view of the working attachment and made the GT series suitable for row crops such as vineyards, hop yards and vegetables, as well as municipal work.

Over its long production run the series changed considerably, from early one- and two-cylinder models to larger turbocharged six-cylinder variants. Buyers of a used GT should check the condition of the central mounting frame and hydraulic connections, since these varied depending on the attached implement.

Implement carriers such as the GT series usually have several PTO and hydraulic connections at the front, middle and rear, so implements can be mounted at whichever position suits the task; this multiple fitment sets them apart from conventional field tractors with only a rear PTO. For the three-point hitch, the GT series covered categories I and II under ISO 730 depending on power.
