Haulotte of L'Horme near Saint-Étienne is Europe's largest maker of aerial work platforms and number three worldwide behind JLG and Genie; scissor lifts are the company's volume product. The register shows four families: Compact and Optimum are the electric scissor lifts for halls, warehouses and interior fit-out, H SX and HS RT the diesel rough-terrain lifts for construction sites. The numbers follow two conventions: in Europe the number gives the working height in metres – Compact 8, 10 and 12, Optimum 6 and 8, H12SX to H18SX – in the USA platform height in feet and platform width in inches: a Compact 2032 is 20 ft high and 32 in wide, an Optimum 1930E 19 ft and 30 in, an HS3388RT 33 ft and 88 in. Suffixes say more: E or AC for electric drive, DX for diesel four-wheel drive, RT for rough terrain, RTE for the electric rough-terrain version, N for the narrow, W for the wide platform, L for the extended version.
