The YellowScan Voyager is a long-range UAV LiDAR system from France for heavy multicopters. It is based on the RIEGL VUX-120 and, with the Applanix AP+ 30/50 AIR GNSS-inertial unit, forms a system for georeferenced point clouds.
The range is 1,250 m. On the figures: YellowScan quotes up to 2.4 million shots per second, and according to YellowScan about 2 million points per second are usable; shots are laser pulses, points the result. Up to 32 echoes per pulse capture ground, vegetation and structures in between. The field of view is 100 × 20°. Accuracy is 1 cm, precision 0.5 cm. The system weighs 3,500 g without battery. IMU and GNSS are integrated.
The system alone, at 3.5 kg without battery, lies just below the limit of EU class C2 (4 kg); the aircraft therefore falls into C3 or C4 (up to 25 kg) or into the specific category. The laser scanner is a laser device, and the laser class given by the manufacturer is to be observed. Surveys of large areas are often flown in the specific category, above all for flights beyond visual line of sight. Point clouds of built-up areas touch data-protection law.
With systems using a RIEGL scanner, it counts that range depends on pulse rate and reflectivity and is shorter for dark targets. The weight applies without battery, and the battery comes on top. Georeferencing hinges on the trajectory of the Applanix system and a rigid mount. Wear points are the scanner window, the connectors and the damping; after knocks the calibration is checked.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
