The SpeedyBee F405 V5 (30x30) (China) is the successor of the F405 V4 and has an isolated power supply for the gyro. It is an FPV flight controller for small multicopters and runs Betaflight or ArduPilot.
The isolated gyro supply keeps switching noise from the onboard power system out of the measurement data, which simplifies filtering and allows cleaner responses in manual flight. The processor is an STM32F405 at 168 MHz, the gyro an ICM42688P, and a barometer of type SPA06-003 or SPL06-003 supplies altitude. The board has 16 MB of blackbox storage that records flight data for tuning, and two BECs for 5 V and 9 V. The input voltage is 3S to 6S, the dimensions are 39 × 39 × 4.9 mm with a hole pattern of 30.5 mm, and the weight is 8.1 g.
In the EU the finished drone decides on class and duties: C0 is below 250 g, C1 below 900 g with Direct Remote ID. When flying with goggles an observer is needed in the open category.
When selecting, cell count and barometer fit count: the range 3S to 6S rules out high cell counts. Blackbox data help tune filters and controllers; the flash storage is small and fills up on long recordings. The current rating of the BECs is weighed against the video transmitter and camera connected. Wear shows at the USB socket and solder pads; after modifications the attitude is calibrated and before updates the configuration is saved.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
