The KDE Direct KDE-UAS125UVC-HE (125A+UHV) is an ultra-high-voltage single-motor ESC from the US maker KDE Direct for heavy multicopters on 4S to 14S. It drives one motor and offers CAN telemetry and on-board data logging. The board measures 46 × 108 mm (width × length, without height).
The continuous current is 125 A for 180 s and the peak current 220 A for 5 s; the continuous figure is therefore a three-minute value, not a value for unlimited running, and for longer missions it should be set lower. The weight of 172 g is without leads, with leads it is 220 g. Control is by PWM or CAN (KDECAN, DroneCAN). The speed limit of 360,000 rpm applies to a 2-pole motor; with a 14-pole motor it divides by 7 to about 51,000 rpm, still far above what multicopter drives run at.
Frame and law: on 14S each ampere-hour of battery is about 52 Wh; from about 3.1 Ah a pack passes the IATA limit of 160 Wh. Heavy multicopters are often at or above 25 kg take-off mass; from there the specific category with an operational authorisation begins.
For selection and wear: CAN pays off with long leads and when current, speed and temperature are to be evaluated. After incidents the log shows whether overload or undervoltage occurred. Connectors, solder joints and capacitors age with heat and vibration; at 125 A a slightly loose contact is enough for local overheating.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
