This series covers Zetor's first "Unified Row" (UR I), which from 1982 replaced the older Crystal tractors and carried type designations from 5211/5245 up to 7711/7745. Through the 1980s it was among the most widely built tractors of the Eastern Bloc.

Conceptually, the UR I tractors were simple, easy-to-maintain all-rounders for arable work and transport, often with optional four-wheel drive, built for high volumes and long service life rather than comfort.

Since the series ran for over two decades with only minor updates, early and late examples differ little technically; when buying used, the condition of the hydraulics and gearbox matters most.

In this power class of 33.1 to 53.7 kW, the ISO 730 three-point linkage is mostly built to Category I, with the PTO running at the standard 540 rpm speed. Since the UR I series was built for over two decades around shared central components, many mechanical parts – clutch, rear axle, hydraulic pump – interchange between model years and even with other Zetor series from the same era.
