At the turn of the decade, the MK2 series followed the first Agrotron generation, still closely resembling the original 1996 design on the outside but reworked technically — the transition continued with a further MK3 facelift in 2001.

The register lists 16 live models, from the Agrotron 105 to the Agrotron 230, built between 1997 and 2001. Output ranges from 55.2 to 191.4 kW, or 82 to 230 hp, weight from 3,970 to 8,350 kg, displacement from 3,192 to 7,146 cm3, across four- and six-cylinder engines.

Spanning 82 to 230 hp, the MK2 generation covered practically the entire upper-class Deutz-Fahr line-up of the time, from a compact four-cylinder to a large six-cylinder flagship.

The model naming without a suffix letter ("Agrotron 105" rather than "MK2") on the type plate can make it hard for buyers to distinguish from the first generation, so the build year remains decisive when buying used.

When buying a used MK2 Agrotron, clutch and gearbox condition, the tightness of the lift hydraulics, and, on the stronger six-cylinder models, the injection system and turbocharger all matter; rust on cab and mudguards after decades of use is common too. Parts run through the SAME Deutz-Fahr group regardless of whether the type plate carries an MK2 marking or not. PTO and lift correspond, depending on the model, to ISO 730 Category II to III, at 540 or 1,000 rpm.
