MAN TGL

The TGL is MAN's light range: distribution work in cities and regions, plus lighter construction duty. Together with the larger TGM it covers roughly 7.5 to 26 tonnes. The engines come from the D08 family; the four-cylinder units displace 4.58 litres and produce 150 to 220 hp depending on version.

The series has a long production run behind it. The 12.180 was built from 2005 to 2017; the 12.250 is a more recent version. For the used market that means the same type designation can cover vehicles spanning more than a decade — emissions stage and equipment differ accordingly.

When comparing two offers it is therefore worth looking less at the type number than at the year and emissions standard. The number tells you how heavy and how strong; it says nothing about which generation stands before you.
