With chassis from Mercedes-Benz, Scania and Iveco and body lengths of over 11 metres, these motorhomes target a niche beyond the usual base or semi-integrated motorhomes, relying on truck engineering for long journeys and permanent living. Such conversions are typically built in small series or to individual order, offering features such as garages for a small car or motorcycle, large bathrooms and slide-out living sections not possible on series-built motorhomes based on cars or vans.

Buying used, these chassis need the same checks as heavy trucks – braking system, drivetrain, rust on the frame and axle mounts – plus, on the living bodies, damp in the roof and side-wall areas, the condition of the leisure battery and body systems, and leaks around roof penetrations.
