J.I. Case 70 series (1969–1978) – 470 to 1570: Agri-King, the first turbo Case 1175, the 1570 with 180 hp, Power Shift and the size logic of the first digit, 25 to 134 kW

The 70 series was Case's tractor programme of the Tenneco years from 1969 to 1978 – the successor to the 30s and the range with which Case united its large tractors from Racine, Wisconsin, under the Agri-King name. The type logic: the first digit (on the four-digit models the first two) orders the size class in ascending order – 470 and 570 the small four-cylinders, 770 to 970 the mid-range, 1070 to 1370 the six-cylinder large tractors, 1570 the top with 180 hp, around 1976 the world's strongest two-wheel-drive tractor – the 70 the series; the 1175 was Case's first turbocharged tractor in 1970. Five of the eleven register models were still offered optionally with petrol, the rest are diesel.

The register lists 11 versions with 25.4 to 133.9 kW, 3,087 to 8,263 cm³ with four or six cylinders, torque from 520 to 698 Nm, unladen weights from 1,769 to 7,389 kg, lengths from 3,302 to 4,623 mm, widths from 1,605 to 2,438 mm and heights from 1,346 to 2,950 mm.

The Agri-Kings brought the twelve-speed Power Shift as full equipment and the air-conditioned cab with which Case set the comfort standard of American large tractors in the 1970s; the 1370 with the 8.3-litre six was the range's best seller.

Used Agri-Kings are common collector and working tractors in North America; when buying, engine and turbocharger, the Power Shift transmission (clutch packs and control valves), hydraulics and cab electrics are what count.
