Deutz-Fahr IN-trac

9 models in this series

The IN-trac series from Deutz-Fahr comprises 9 models.

Deutz-Fahr Intrac / IN-trac – tool carrier from 1972 into the 1980s: six-cylinder diesel engines, 72 to 110 kW, Turbo versions, high ground clearance for front and mid-mounted implements

The Intrac was Deutz's tool carrier, built from 1972 into the 1980s: unlike classic farm tractors, the Intrac carries implements not only at the rear but also centrally between the axles and at the front, which keeps the view of the working implement clear and lets one vehicle work row crops such as sugar beet or maize. The early four-digit types INTRAC 2002 to 2005 were later replaced by the designation IN-trac 6.05 to 6.60, whose system follows the DX 6 series: the digits after the point mark the development stage, the Turbo suffix the turbocharged engine variant.

The register lists here nine versions with 72 to 110 kW (98 to 150 hp) from six-cylinder engines of 5,655 to 6,128 cm3 displacement. Unladen weight ranges from 4,900 to 6,300 kg, overall length from 5,000 to 5,199 mm, width from 2,300 to 2,390 mm and overall height from 3,120 to 3,180 mm – markedly more than comparable farm tractors, due to the high ground clearance needed for row-crop work. Torque ranges from 384 to 535 Nm at 2,300 to 2,400 rpm.

As a tool carrier, the Intrac competed with the Fendt tool carrier (GT) for the market of farms growing sugar beet, potatoes and vegetables, where one vehicle had to guide seeding, tending and harvesting implements centrally over the rows without driving over them.

On a used purchase, besides the engine, clutch and the condition of the air-cooled engine, what matters most are the mounting points and hydraulic couplings for front and mid-mounted implements, the condition of the driveshafts to auxiliary equipment, and rust on the frame and the tall-built axles. Parts supply runs through the Deutz-Fahr network, though it is narrower for tool-carrier-specific mounting parts than for ordinary farm tractors.
