This page gathers the Yanmar tractors the register could not assign to a named range – mainly small and medium compacts of the AF, EF and CT series. Yanmar was founded in 1912 in Osaka and in 1933 built the world's first practical small diesel engine with the type HB; from this engine expertise a dedicated compact-tractor programme grew from the 1960s, which Yanmar still fits almost entirely with its own diesels. AF, EF and CT denote its own model series with an attached power or generation number, D at the end marking a four-wheel-drive version on several types. The engines come exclusively from Yanmar itself, including the water-cooled 3TNV and 4TNV series.

The register lists here 276 versions with 9.2 to 69.9 kW from three- and four-cylinders of 660 to 4,413 cm³, PTO outputs from 14 to 67 hp, unladen weights from 565 to 3,550 kg and lengths from 2,340 to 4,240 mm.
Alongside Kubota, Yanmar is the second big Japanese supplier of compact tractors and is strongly represented in Japan itself, Southeast Asia and North America; in Europe the brand is present mainly through municipalities, fruit and wine-growing operations and small farms, for which the narrow, manoeuvrable AF and EF types are designed.
On used tractors, operating hours and engine condition count – Yanmar diesels are regarded as long-lived – hydrostat or clutch, the condition of PTO and lift, and rust on cab and bodywork; parts run through Yanmar's own dealer network, and increasingly only through used-parts dealers on the older AF and EF types.
