The 2000/2200 TVL from Schlüter is part of the Super Trac series. Production: 11/1981–02/1989. The engine delivers 200 hp (147 kW), has 8 cylinders, with a displacement of 9,852 cm³. Torque is 775 Nm. Rated speed is 2,000 rpm. The machine is 5,890 mm long, 2,500 mm wide and 3,190 mm high. The unladen weight is 8,300 kg. The wheelbase measures 2,950 mm. Ground clearance is 440 mm. Top speed is 30 km/h. The tank holds 310 litres. Transmission: 12V/5R or 20V/9R. The engine is water-cooled. Tyres: front 18.4/15 R 38, rear 18.4/15 R 38. The fuel is diesel. The bore measures 112 mm. The stroke is 125 mm. Maximum torque is reached at 1,300 rpm. Construction: Trac tractor, frame construction. The gearbox offers 20 forward gears. There are also 9 reverse gears. Injection pressure is 240 bar. The linkage is category II/III. Around 38 units were built. The Super Trac-Baureihe series covers 7 models. Rated output within it ranges from 160 to 280 hp; the 2000/2200 TVL sits in the lower part of that range with 200 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the Super Tronic 1900 TV/L-LS below it with 185 hp and the Super Trac 2500 VL (-LS) above it with 240 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 7,200 to 9,700 kg; here the 2000/2200 TVL sits in the middle of that range with 8,300 kg. 91 Schlüter models across 19 series are on record.

Schlüter Super Trac (1978–1993) – the systems tractor with front cab from Freising: 1600 to 3000 TVL, the number as power class, T for turbocharger, V for four-wheel drive, LS as equipment, Super Tronic with electronics

The Super Trac was, beside the Profi Trac, Schlüter's second systems tractor: presented in 1978, with four equal wheels, all-wheel steering and a cab that sits not in the middle as on the Profi Trac but at the front above the front axle, leaving a mounting space behind it for bodies and implements – the layout MB-Trac and Fendt Xylon also chose. The type logic: the number gives the power class in tenths of hp – Super Trac 1600 about 160 hp, 2500 250 hp, 3000 300 hp – T the turbocharger, V four-wheel drive, L a version variant, LS the upper equipment; the Super Tronic 1900 is the version with electronic transmission control with which Schlüter caught up with the state of the art in the early 1990s. The engines are Schlüter's own six-cylinders of 7.4 litres in the smaller and MAN six- and eight-cylinders of up to 11.4 litres in the big models, at 2,000 to 2,200 rpm.

The register lists 7 versions with 118 to 206 kW from six- and eight-cylinders of 7,389 to 11,413 cm³, torque up to 883 Nm, unladen weights from 7,200 to 9,700 kg, lengths from 5,660 to 5,950 mm, widths from 2,500 to 2,620 mm and heights from 3,190 to 3,400 mm.

The Super Trac was Schlüter's best-selling systems tractor – in demand with contractors for slurry and transport work and in eastern Germany after 1990 – and it was the machine with which the company took on the MB-Trac until the end of production in 1993.

Used Super Tracs are collectors' and niche machines with prices by condition; engine (MAN parts better available than Schlüter parts), transmission and all-wheel steering, front cab and frame, hydraulics and tyres count.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
