Schlüter Compact series (1978–1993) – the compact Freising tractors below the Super: Compact 550 to 1350, the number as hp, V for four-wheel drive, T for turbo, LS for powershift, 43 to 95 kW
The Compact series was Schlüter's answer to the criticism that the Freising tractors were too big and too heavy: from 1978 the maker built, alongside the Super large tractors, a more compact range with shorter wheelbase and lower height for the family farm, which ran until the end of production in 1993. The type logic follows the Schlüter system: the number gives the output in hp – Compact 550 about 55 hp, Compact 950 about 95 hp, Compact 1350 about 135 hp – V stands for four-wheel drive, V4 and V6 additionally give the cylinder count, T for turbocharger, LS for the version with powershift transmission, Special for special equipment; the Super 800 V is a transitional type from the older range. As with all Schlüters the engines came from in-house production, three- to six-cylinders of 3.4 to 5.9 litres.

The register lists 11 versions with 42.5 to 95 kW (70 to 100 hp where output is recorded), 3,435 to 5,867 cm³ with three to six cylinders, rated speeds of 1,800 to 2,200 rpm, torque from 235 to 530 Nm, unladen weights from 2,690 to 5,200 kg, lengths from 3,510 to 4,220 mm, widths from 1,710 to 2,360 mm and heights from 2,220 to 2,775 mm – all diesel.
The Compacts shared engines and cabs with the Supers and were nevertheless a design of their own – Schlüter's attempt to hold its ground in the mid-range with small volumes against Fendt and Deutz, which failed in 1993 with the end of the brand.
Used Compacts are rarer than Supers and sought after by collectors; when buying, engine and transmission, the powershift on LS models, front axle and hydraulics and parts supply through Schlüter specialists are what count.
