The Magnum was Renault Trucks' flagship model from 1990 to 2013 (Renault Véhicules Industriels until 2002) and was built at Bourg-en-Bresse in southern France. Its defining feature was the fully flat cab floor, giving the driver full standing height – an unusual concept in the long-haul segment at the time. Type designations such as 440, 460, 480, 500 and 520 give roughly the engine power in horsepower, DXI denotes Renault's own in-line six-cylinder diesel engines, which replaced the older MIDR units in the 1990s. With the Magnum E-Tech, Renault Trucks now also offers a battery-electric version of the same cab shape. Renault Trucks has belonged to the Volvo Group since 2001.
