Nuffield was the tractor brand of the British Nuffield Organization, which became one of the major British manufacturers with the Universal range from the 1940s; after the merger that formed the British Motor Corporation (BMC), engines came from BMC itself as well as from Morris/Wolseley and IMR, including the BMC OE4 type. From 1969, as part of the restructuring into British Leyland, the brand was renamed Leyland.

Alongside Fordson and Massey Ferguson, Nuffield was one of the defining British tractor brands of the post-war years and was widespread above all in Britain, Ireland and the Commonwealth. The renaming to Leyland in 1969 marked the end of the brand, though its models are still maintained today on the British vintage-tractor market.
On used examples of these historic tractors, the condition of the engine and cooling system, clutch and gearbox, brakes and steering, and rust on the sheet-metal parts and mudguards all matter; on the petrol and mixed-fuel variants, carburettor condition is an additional check point. Spare parts today run mainly through dealers and clubs specialising in British vintage tractors.
