The R series was the core tractor line of the Hanover-based manufacturer Hanomag and was built in numerous variants from 1942 to 1964. The entire production run of the R series, from 1942 to 1964, predates any EU emissions certification, which only began in 1999. Original parts for the R series are likewise scarce today, since Hanomag tractor production has not existed since 1971; they are mainly sourced through specialist vintage-machinery dealers.
