The Galloper is an off-road vehicle that Hyundai Precision & Industry built in South Korea under licence from the first Mitsubishi Pajero. The first Galloper rolled off the line in Ulsan in 1991, and production ended in 2004.
The vehicle recorded here dates from the 1999 build year. A four-cylinder of 2,476 cm³ delivers 73 kW, and the gearbox has 5 gears. The vehicle is 4,635 mm long and 1,680 mm wide, kerb weight is 1,820 kg and permissible gross weight 2,550 kg.
The Galloper was offered in the Innovation, Exceed and Wagon versions. The vehicle is technically related to the first Pajero but was produced in Korea. The Galloper is thus one of the licence-built off-road vehicles from Korea. For parts searches displacement, output and build year count, because equipment and drive changed during the long production run.
Galloper – other models: the collective page of the licence-built off-roader based on the Mitsubishi Pajero, a 2.5-litre TDI four-cylinder and a 3.0-litre V6, 73 kW, 2.5 to 2.55 tonnes gross vehicle weight
The Hyundai Galloper was an off-roader built under licence in South Korea on the basis of the first-generation Mitsubishi Pajero, which Hyundai produced from 1991 initially for the domestic market and, from the mid-1990s, also for export to Europe, chiefly to Spain. The models gathered here show the range's typical drivetrain variants: the 2.5-litre turbodiesel as the TD and TDI with a long wheelbase (LWB), and the 3.0-litre V6 petrol, both carried over from the donor Mitsubishi Pajero; codes such as HRLS or PV denote trim and body variants.

The register lists 13 versions here with 73 kW, four- to six-cylinder engines of 2,476 to 2,972 cm³, unladen weights from 1,615 to 1,960 kg, gross vehicle weights from 2,510 to 2,550 kg, lengths from 4,635 to 4,650 mm and widths from 1,680 to 1,770 mm.
The Galloper positioned itself as a cheaper alternative to the pricier Pajero in the same segment of classic body-on-frame off-roaders, competing with models such as the Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Terrano, before the brand was discontinued in the early 2000s as Hyundai's own SUV models rose.
When buying used, check the turbocharger on the TD/TDI engines, corrosion on the ladder frame and axle suspension on all models, and the function of the transfer case and differential lock; since Galloper no longer exists as an independent brand, spare parts can partly be sourced through compatibility with Mitsubishi Pajero components.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
