CaddxFPV (Walksnail) Avatar HD VTX V2

The Walksnail Avatar HD VTX V2 from CaddxFPV (Walksnail) is a video transmitter module without a camera for digital FPV on 5.8 GHz. It works in the Walksnail Avatar system and is supplied without a camera, which helps on builds with their own camera or when replacing a faulty transmitter. It belongs to the class of small FPV drones.

The picture is transmitted with a latency of 22 ms, and recording is in 1080p or 720p. There are eight channels; the module weighs 17.6 g and measures 33 x 33 x 10.5 mm. The transmit power of 1,000 mW is the converted FCC ceiling of under 30 dBm EIRP, not a measurement. For other regions the manufacturer gives lower limits: CE under 14 dBm (about 25 mW), SRRC under 20 dBm (100 mW) and MIC under 25 dBm (about 316 mW). This shows that power depends on the approval area and not on the device alone.

In the EU, 25 mW EIRP is allowed in the 5.8 GHz band without a licence; the CE limit of under 14 dBm matches that value. The FCC power may not be used in the EU, and the limit must not be exceeded. Equipment may be operated in the EU only in the approved frequency ranges and power levels.

When choosing, the goggles must understand Walksnail Avatar. At 17.6 g and 10.5 mm height the module belongs where there is airflow, because it gets hot when stationary without airspeed. The antenna and its connector are the wear points in crashes, and the firmware of transmitter and goggles has to match.
