The T-MOTOR NS17x5.8 is an ultra-light, matt two-blade propeller made of carbon fibre with epoxy resin from the NS series of T-MOTOR (China) for efficient mid-sized multicopters. It measures 17 in in diameter with a 5.8 in pitch; 432 is given as the figure in millimetres for the diameter. The propeller is one-piece and does not fold.
The 5.8 in pitch is a little over a third of the diameter: flat, laid out for hovering and efficiency. The weight is given as 16.5 g; T-MOTOR labels the figure as the weight of a single blade, so it is not suitable for comparison with complete propellers from other manufacturers. The maximum thrust is 6.0 kg. The speed of 8,600 rpm is the recommended maximum speed at those 6 kg. As a working range the manufacturer recommends 1.1 to 3.0 kg of thrust at 3,800 to 6,500 rpm.
Multicopters with 17 in propellers fall, depending on take-off mass, into class C2 (under 4 kg) or C3 (under 25 kg). A C2 aircraft keeps 30 m from uninvolved people in subcategory A2; with the low-speed function active at no more than 3 m/s the distance shrinks to 5 m. Classes C1 to C3 require direct remote ID, and from 250 g the operator must register.
On selection: a low propeller weight reduces inertia and eases fast corrections for the controller, but such a light carbon propeller is also sensitive to edge impacts. Frayed edges, nicks at the tip and dull-sounding areas point to delamination and are reasons to replace. The surface is matt, and scratches show on it early. Propellers are replaced in pairs, with the direction of rotation matching the motor.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
