The T-MOTOR G40x13.1 is a glossy two-blade propeller made of carbon fibre with epoxy resin for very large heavy-lift multicopters from T-MOTOR (China). The designation gives diameter and pitch: 40 in, 13.1 in. The propeller is one-piece and does not fold.
The diameter is 40 in, and 1,016 is given as the figure in millimetres. The 13.1 in pitch is one third of the diameter: flat, laid out for hovering and efficiency at low rotational speed. The weight is given as 237 g; T-MOTOR labels the figure as the weight of a single blade, so it is not suitable for comparison with complete propellers from other manufacturers. The thrust is rated up to 60 kg (Thrust Limitation); the manufacturer gives an optimal range of 1,000 to 2,800 rpm. Thrust holds only with a given motor, voltage and speed.
At 40 in blade-tip speed governs noise and losses; it grows with diameter and rotational speed, which is why the optimal range is so low. A propeller with a thrust limit of 60 kg usually belongs to platforms beyond the 25 kg limit of the open category; there the specific category applies, in which operation rests on a risk assessment. A spinning blade of 40 in diameter demands distance from people and a de-energised drive before any work at the propeller.
On selection: the fixing on the motor shaft is the most highly loaded spot. With carbon epoxy watch for frayed edges, nicks at the tip and dull-sounding areas that point to delamination. At this length even slight imbalance causes vibration in the motor bearing and structure; propellers are replaced in pairs and only with balanced parts.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
