The MAD Components Antimatter M6C12 IPE V3.0 KV150 is a heavy-lift multicopter motor with protection class IP45, a size of 72 x 35.4 mm and 14 pole pairs (28 poles). MAD Components is a Chinese maker of multicopter drives. The motor weighs 277 g, is designed for 12S and drives carbon-fibre propellers of 18 to 24 inches. It delivers continuous thrust from around 2.5 kg per rotor upwards.

At 150 KV the motor turns roughly 6,700 rpm unloaded on 12S (44.4 V nominal). The maximum thrust of 10,800 g holds for the series, which is about 39 times the motor mass. The continuous thrust starts at about a quarter of the peak, and that gap shapes the design: the aircraft is built so that the hover sits in the continuous range, and the peak stands for gusts, climbing and the loss of one motor in multi-motor configurations.

IP45 follows the standard for protection classes: the 4 stands for protection against solid objects from 1 mm, the 5 for protection against water jets; immersion is not covered. The frame includes the cell count: motor, speed controller (ESC) and battery must carry 12S, and the 160 Wh limit for passenger aircraft lies on 12S at about 3.6 Ah. For the rules the take-off weight of the whole drone counts: up to 25 kg it stays in the open category, above that the specific category applies. The EU class does not depend on the motor.

Protection class and balancing are the wear topics. The seal protects only as long as it is undamaged; after flights in rain, dust or salt spray the bell should be turned by hand, and it must run evenly. With 18 to 24-inch propellers, balancing decides bearing life. The winding ages under continuous load; discoloured varnish indicates overload. Finally, shaft wobble and the seating of the mounting screws should be checked.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
