The Grepow 400Wh/kg Semi-Solid 30Ah 12S (part number TARBG4030K12S10X) is a semi-solid lithium battery from Shenzhen Grepow Battery for heavy multicopters. Twelve cells in series give a nominal 44.4 V at 30 Ah; the pack measures 212 × 92 × 108 mm.
44.4 V and 30 Ah give 1,332 Wh; at 3,800 g that is 350.5 Wh/kg at pack level, whereas the series name quotes 400 Wh/kg. The calculated pack value is the one to compare. The continuous current is 90 A (3C), about 4 kW; as a peak 150 A is allowed for at most 15 s. 3C means the pack can be discharged in about 20 minutes, a middle course between an endurance pack and a power pack. The connector is offered as XT90S-F or AS150U-F.
1,332 Wh is far above 160 Wh. Under the IATA passenger leaflet (February 2019 edition) the pack travels only as dangerous-goods cargo under the IATA dangerous goods regulations, not as a spare in hand baggage. UN 38.3 testing is the precondition; airline rules may be stricter. At 3.8 kg the pack weighs heavily in the take-off mass: an aircraft of EU class C2 may weigh less than 4 kg in total.
In selection the continuous current of 90 A must cover the hover current of the aircraft with reserve; connectors and leads must handle 90 A continuous and 150 A peak, and at 90 A an XT90S-F runs at the limit of its rating while the AS150U-F leaves more headroom. Wear shows as lost cycles, growing voltage sag and deformed cells; the twelve cell voltages are checked at the 13-pin balance lead. Semi-solid packs are stored in the middle of the charge range as the maker specifies, cool and protected against pressure.
