The DALPROP Cyclone T5146.5 V2 is a three-blade Bayer polycarbonate propeller for 5 in class FPV drones in racing use. The designation encodes 5.1 in diameter and 4.65 in pitch; the T stands for the three-blade design and V2 marks the second version of the model.

At 4.65 in the pitch is close to the diameter and so high for this size: the propeller is laid out for speed and direct response. Three blades give more thrust and grip than two at a small diameter but cost efficiency and raise the current draw. The weight is 4.5 g, the bore 5 mm and the hub height 7 mm. The propeller does not fold. Thrust and current can only be quoted for a combination of motor, voltage and speed, not for the propeller alone.

Operation follows the open category: visual contact with the aircraft, no more than 120 m altitude, and with video goggles an observer who keeps the aircraft in view. The class a build with this propeller reaches depends on its take-off mass: C0 under 250 g, C1 under 900 g, C2 under 4 kg; from 250 g operator registration is mandatory.

On selection: the bore fits 5 mm motor shafts. Racing three-blade propellers are wear parts: after every ground contact the blade tips and leading edges should be checked, since even small nicks change thrust and balance. A quadcopter needs two propellers per direction of rotation, and propellers of different types are not mixed on one frame.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
