The CUAV C-RTK 3 X20P is an all-band RTK GNSS module for medium-class multicopters. Chinese maker CUAV uses the u-blox ZED-X20P receiver with 672 channels and adds an RM3100 compass and an interface for DroneCAN or CAN FD.

The module receives GPS (L1C/A, L2C, L5), BeiDou (B1I, B1C, B2a, B3I), Galileo (E1, E5a, E6), QZSS up to L6 and NavIC (L1, L5), plus SBAS. For RTK the manufacturer states 0.006 m + 1 ppm horizontally, that is 0.6 cm plus 1 mm per kilometre of distance from the base; for PPP-RTK below 0.06 m, and standalone without corrections 1.2 m. The module outputs positions at 25 Hz. It speaks NMEA, UBX, RTCM 3.4 and SPARTN 2.0.2 and has UART, CAN (DroneCAN, CAN FD) and USB-C. It weighs 30 g without antenna and cable.

SPARTN is the correction format of PPP-RTK services: the corrections then arrive over the internet or by satellite from a provider instead of from a nearby base, and give values below 6 cm by the manufacturer's figures, rather than the sub-centimetre class typical of RTK with a nearby base. Legally the aircraft is what counts: the EU classes C1 to C3 require geo-awareness and remote ID based on the GNSS position, and the 30 g module weight adds to the antenna when class limits such as C0 below 250 g are at stake.

For selection, the planned correction source matters: base, NTRIP or SPARTN. The CAN FD variant needs autopilot firmware that supports it. Upkeep includes compass calibration, checking the antenna lead and current firmware.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
