The PRS-M350 from AVSS (Aerial Vehicle Safety Solutions, Canada) is a parachute recovery system for medium multicopters, built as a ready-made kit for the DJI Matrice 350 RTK. A spring mechanism ejects the canopy; deployment is automatic and, according to the manufacturer, takes less than 0.5 s. The canister can be exchanged in the field, and a flight termination system (FTS) is part of the package.
Protection depends on the mass of the aircraft: at 7.7 kg take-off weight the canopy opens reliably from 44.6 m according to the manufacturer, at 9.2 kg from 50.8 m; the sink rate is 3.24 and 3.54 m/s respectively. Below those heights the system offers little protection, so the aircraft is unprotected during take-off and the landing approach. At 922 g including the mount (the main system alone weighs 650 g), part of the payload is lost.
The manufacturer lists ASTM F3322-18 and EASA MoC Light-UAS.2512 as evidence. For flights over people, or in certain scenarios of the Specific category, such evidence may be required, and in SORA a recovery system can reduce the ground risk. A kit made for the M350 RTK is easier to substantiate than a self-made adaptation. The added weight counts towards take-off weight.
In service, care after a deployment is what counts: inspect canopy and lines for tears, chafing and moisture, exchange the canister and repack as the manufacturer's documents specify. The sensor system that detects a fall is part of maintenance too: function test and power supply before each block of flights. Before buying, work out the load the aircraft really flies with, because minimum height and sink rate depend on it.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
