Besides the classic articulated wheeled version, Case IH also offers the Steiger series as the Quadtrac, with four independent rubber-tracked undercarriages, identifiable from the corresponding model designations in the register. PTO output of one recorded model is 379 hp, and lift capacity reaches up to 8,948 kg.

Within the Case IH range, the Steiger sits as the largest tractor class for operations with very high draft requirements, such as large-scale tillage in North America and Eastern Europe. For a used model, distinguishing the wheeled version from the Quadtrac matters, as maintenance demands and intended use differ considerably.

Steiger tractors of this power class, where a rear lift is fitted at all, sit above ISO 730 Category III and reach into Category IV for the three-point hitch; on the articulated and Quadtrac versions, however, what matters most is drawbar pulling power. Both Cummins and FPT, whose engines were fitted depending on model year, remain active engine manufacturers today with their own parts networks.
