Case IH 9200 series (1990–1995) – the second Steiger generation under Case IH from Fargo: 9230 to 9280, the last digits as power step, wheeled and Quadtrac versions, Cummins and Case six-cylinders of 8.3 and 10 litres
The 9200 series was the second articulated-tractor generation Case IH built at the Fargo plant in North Dakota after the takeover of Steiger in 1986 – the successor to the 9100s of 1987 and the range in which the first four-track tractor went into series production in 1996 with the 9370 Quadtrac. The type logic: 92 marks the range, the last two digits the power step – 9230 about 235 hp, 9250 about 275, 9270 about 335, 9280 about 375 hp – the versions comprise wheeled articulated tractors on duals or triples and, in the late range, the Quadtrac. The engines are the Case six-cylinder 6TA-830 of 8.3 litres in the small and the Cummins N14 and Case-Cummins 6TA-1000 of 10 litres in the big models, at 2,100 to 2,200 rpm; the transmission is the 12- or 24-speed powershift, optionally the synchromesh gearbox.
