The 5.600 er - Baureihe series covers 4 models. Rated output within it ranges from 48 to 80 hp; the 5670 sits in the upper part of that range with 70 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the 5660 below it with 58 hp and the 5680 above it with 80 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 2,055 to 3,025 kg; here the 5670 sits in the upper part of that range with 2,810 kg. 58 AGCO Allis models across 14 series are on record.

AGCO Allis 5600 series – compact tractors from the US brand based in Duluth: 5650 to 5680 with SAME engines, 35 to 59 kW, three- and four-cylinder engines of 3,000 to 4,000 cm³

AGCO Allis was, in the 1990s, one of the US tractor brands of the AGCO group headquartered in Duluth, Georgia; the brand name traces back to Allis-Chalmers, whose farm-machinery division passed, via the intermediate company Deutz-Allis, to the newly formed Allis-Gleaner Corporation – AGCO for short – in 1990. The models covered here, 5650 to 5680, form the brand's 5600 compact class; according to the register, their engines come from the Italian maker SAME, today part of the SAME Deutz-Fahr group.

The register lists here 4 versions with 35.3 to 58.8 kW, or 46 to 73 hp, from three- and four-cylinder engines of 3,000 to 4,000 cm³, unladen weights from 2,055 to 3,025 kg, torque from 167 to 261 Nm, lengths from 3,378 to 3,919 mm, widths from 1,694 to 1,941 mm and heights from 2,233 to 2,530 mm.

The 5600 series was positioned in the compact segment alongside brands such as Massey Ferguson, Ford and the emerging Japanese compact tractors, aimed at smaller farms, orchards, vineyards and municipal use; the AGCO Allis brand was gradually withdrawn from the market in the late 1990s in favour of other AGCO brands.

On a used buy, for the SAME engines what counts is the condition of the injection pump and cooling system, the tightness of the hydraulics, corrosion on the wings and chassis, and the limited parts supply, since the brand has long been discontinued and spares must be sourced partly through SAME Deutz-Fahr and partly through independent farm-machinery dealers.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
