Zetor has built its tractors since 1946 in Brno in the Czech Republic and ranks among Europe's long-established agricultural machinery makers. The Forterra II range, with the types 8641, 9641, 10641, 11441 and 11741, forms the second generation of this mid-range line, the first two digits of the type designation giving an approximate horsepower figure. The smaller types run four-cylinder, the larger ones six-cylinder diesel engines.

With the Forterra range Zetor holds its position as a value-conscious mid-range brand, chiefly in Central and Eastern Europe and in export markets, where straightforward technology and affordable parts supply count against Western European makers. The second generation reworked the cab and hydraulics compared with the original Forterra.
Buying a used Forterra II calls for checking the cab mounts, the tightness of the hydraulic valves and, on the six-cylinder types, cooling performance and the turbocharger. Parts for Zetor tractors are well available through the brand's dealer network, as Zetor still builds tractors in Brno today.
