The 39,000 kg corresponds to the gross weight permitted in Belgium and much of the EU for a tractor-and-semi-trailer combination; the comparatively low kerb weight of the trailer against the gross weight arises because the tractor unit takes on a substantial share of the load via the fifth wheel. Such semi-trailers are used in European long-haul transport for general and palletised cargo and compete with semi-trailers from other Belgian, Dutch and German manufacturers.

On a used semi-trailer of this type, what counts is the condition of the fifth-wheel plate and kingpin, the tightness and load capacity of the body, the function of the air brake system including the connections to the tractor unit, the condition of the axles and any lift axle, and corrosion on the frame and chassis rails; tyre wear and the inspection sticker give further insight into maintenance condition.
