At gross weights of 18 to 36 tonnes, the Schier trailers sit clearly in the heavy class above 10 tonnes, as used for drawbar or centre-axle trailers in road-train combinations behind tractor units or lorries. Mega and Jumbo bodies maximise load volume for light, bulky goods in general long-haul transport, while the uniform width of 2.55 metres stays within standard dimensions for ordinary road transport.

When buying used at these weight classes, check above all the frame and axle assemblies for fatigue cracks, the braking system of the tandem or tridem axles, and the drawbar eye and fifth-wheel coupling for wear. The curtainsider tarpaulin should be checked for tears and the tensioning mechanism for function; tyres and brake linings matter greatly given these axle loads, as does the condition of the load platform boards for sagging.
