With this power range the S series covered the mid-range segment of the Renault line-up and competed with the French and European mid-range tractors of the era, such as those from Massey Ferguson, Fiat and Deutz; the four-wheel-drive 751-4 S extended the field of use onto more demanding terrain.
On a used S-series tractor, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, rust on the chassis and sheet-metal panels, and the tightness of the hydraulics all count, and on the four-wheel-drive version also the condition of the front-axle gearing and drive shafts; parts for Renault's own engines must be sourced through specialist farm-machinery dealers.
