The Stier series brings together in the register a compact small tractor in four versions: ST 45, Stier 18, Stier 25 and Stier 30. These are one- to three-cylinder diesel tractors in the lower power segment, used on small farms, in orchards and vineyards and for municipal tasks; the short wheelbase and narrow track suit work in confined spaces. The narrow track also eases manoeuvring around farm buildings and through narrow gateways.

In this power segment, small tractors such as the Stier series compete with Asian compact tractors and smaller ranges from European manufacturers designed for grassland maintenance, transport work and work between row crops. Many such small tractors also found their way into equipment rental fleets serving smallholders.
When buying used, check operating hours, clutch and gearbox condition, diesel engine oil-tightness and corrosion on the chassis and bodywork; for such small and older series it is worth checking parts availability before buying, as distribution networks for small tractors are often regionally limited.
