The 35 series stands in the tradition line of Ford tractors, whose European business became part of New Holland in 1991 following the merger with Fiatagri. The four-digit model designation follows the scheme common at Ford and early New Holland, in which the last two digits give the series, here the 35 class; the Turbo suffix marks the turbocharged, more powerful version of the 4835 with otherwise the same four-cylinder engine.

The register lists 2 versions with 48 to 53 kW (65 to 72 hp) from four-cylinder engines of 3,613 cm³, unladen weights of 3,270 to 3,440 kg, a length of 3,980 mm, a width of 1,840 mm and a height of 2,480 mm; torque ranges from 198 to 247 Nm at a rated speed of 2,500 rpm.

As a mid-range all-purpose tractor, the 35 series targeted mixed arable and livestock farms that needed an uncomplicated, mechanically simple tractor for fieldwork, front-loader duty and transport, putting it in competition with comparable ranges from other makers in this power class.

When buying used, on the Turbo version check the condition of the turbocharger, and generally the wear on clutch and gearbox, the tightness of hydraulics and lift, and rust on the cab and mudguards; parts run through the New Holland dealer network, which continues to support the Ford-heritage models.
