Mercedes Benz Vito

The register lists 203 versions with power outputs from 60 to 190 kW, displacements from 1,598 to 3,724 cm³ and four to six cylinders – the latter referring to the V6 CDI top engine of the second generation. Unladen weights range from 1,720 to 2,825 kg, permissible gross weights from 2,500 to 3,500 kg, lengths from 4,660 to 5,370 mm at widths between 1,770 and 2,240 mm.

As a tradesman's and fleet vehicle, the Vito competes with the VW Transporter, the Ford Transit Custom and the Renault Trafic, and is increasingly used as a base for taxis and shuttle vans.

On used examples, check the engine's mileage with regard to the timing chain or timing belt depending on the generation, rust on the sliding door tracks and underbody, the rear axle's slide bearings on rear-wheel-drive versions, the electronics of the driver-assistance systems on the W447, and the turbocharger's service history; spare parts are readily available through the dense Mercedes-Benz Vans network.
