The A family sits below International Harvester's large standard tractors in the model hierarchy - the successor to the small Farmall A, B and C tractors with which IH held the lower power segment for smallholdings and specialty crops from 1939 into the 1950s. The types listed here, 433, 533 and 633, carry the additional V/E designation for different equipment variants, some in a second version (533 V/E II) and as the special variant V 433/II. The type logic follows IH's scheme: the first digit rises with the power class, the following two with displacement.

The register lists 6 versions with 25.6 to 38.1 kW from three-cylinder engines of 2,536 to 2,934 cm³, torque of 145 to 188 Nm at around 2,050 to 2,200 rpm, kerb weights of 1,545 to 2,115 kg, lengths of 2,950 to 3,390 mm, widths of 998 to 1,644 mm and heights of 1,229 to 2,280 mm; every model runs on diesel.
Tractors of this class were the workhorses of smaller farms and of viticulture, orchards and vegetable growing, where narrow track width and compact dimensions between rows mattered. Compared with the US Farmall models, the 433 to 633 are tailored to the tighter conditions of European farming.
On a used example of these small three-cylinder diesels, check compression and the injection pump, the clutch, front-axle bearings and kingpins on the narrow-track versions, brakes and the hydraulic pump; parts for engine and driveline are still available through IH specialists and independent farm-machinery dealers.
