Heinrich Lanz HR 7 – Bulldog tractors from Mannheim, D 8500 to D 8539, horizontal single-cylinder rated at 22 kW at 540 rpm, multi-fuel operation
Heinrich Lanz built the HR 7 Series at its Mannheim plant; the four models D 8500, D 8511, D 8531 and D 8539 carry the same horizontal single-cylinder engine rated at 22 kW. As with the classic Lanz Bulldog, the engine ran on multiple fuels. In 1956, John Deere took over the Mannheim works, which continue to this day as a John Deere plant. The HR 7 Series was among the more powerful Bulldog series in Lanz's post-war line-up.

With higher output than the smaller Lanz Bulldog series, the HR 7 Series was among the more powerful versions for mid-sized to larger farms and heavier draft work. Parts and technical knowledge for the Bulldog models are still maintained today by an active collector and club scene.
When buying these Bulldog models used, check the condition of the single-cylinder and its ignition system, the tightness of the cooling and fuel systems, the clutch and gearbox, and rust on the frame and bodywork; parts are supplied by specialist Bulldog dealers. as well as the function of the belt pulley and starter motor. Rust and leaks at the radiator usually reveal themselves already during a test run.
