Tipping semi-trailers of this two-axle class are the lighter end of the GS Meppel range and run mainly in short-haul and regional transport of excavated earth, recycling material and bulk agricultural produce, where the lower unladen weight allows more payload per trip than the marque's three-axle versions.
On a used tipper, the condition of the tipping body and hydraulic ram, the tightness of the side boards and tailgate, corrosion of the body and frame from abrasive loads, the braking system and air suspension, and the tightness of the tipping valves all count; parts run through GS Meppel itself and the usual trailer suppliers. The two-axle version carries the load on a simple tandem axle rather than a tridem group, which lowers purchase and tyre costs against the three-axle versions but means a higher load on each axle.
