Fruehauf ONCRP

The register lists five versions with unladen weights from 8,640 to 10,600 kg, gross weights from 30,000 to 42,000 kg, lengths from 13,870 to 14,020 mm and widths from 2,550 to 2,600 mm.

With a length around 14 metres and payloads up to over 30 tonnes, the ONCRP range belongs among the long semi-trailers for long-haul transport, used for bulky and voluminous cargo such as general goods over long distances. Long semi-trailers of this kind complemented the shorter standard versions in many fleets when bulky or particularly light cargo had to be carried as space-efficiently as possible.

When buying a used example of this age, what matters is the condition of the frame and kingpin, the function of the brakes, corrosion on the chassis rails and load floor, and the state of the axles and tyres. Parts for historic Fruehauf semi-trailers are barely available through regular trade, so restorations usually rely on common axle and brake components and on vintage commercial vehicle specialists. It is also worth checking the paint history and any signs of earlier bodywork repairs.
